Core Drilling Contract at the Ahvenkoski Hydropower Plant in Collaboration with Mitta Oy
Unwa Oy carried out underwater core drillings at the Ahvenkoski hydropower plant – nearly 200 boreholes precisely documented.
We operated as a subcontractor for Mitta Oy in a demanding core drilling project at the Ahvenkoski hydropower plant. The goal of the project was to examine the condition of the plant’s concrete structures in various parts of the facility, including the spillway dam.
The work involved underwater core drillings at different depths as well as patching of the boreholes. All core samples were carefully collected and documented for future laboratory analysis.
At its peak, the project employed 7 professional divers simultaneously, reflecting the scale and demanding nature of the work.
We also participated in the execution and sampling of above-water boreholes, some of which reached depths of up to 20 metres.
A comprehensive cost estimate, as well as work and safety plan, was prepared for the main contractor. Our diving team managed to stay within the planned budget and schedule, achieving the desired and successful outcome for the client.
