Underwater Concrete Repairs at Merikoski Hydropower Plant’s Tailrace Channel
We are working as a subcontractor for Ramago Oy at the Merikoski hydropower plant. Our responsibilities include all underwater construction and inspection work related to the retaining wall in the tailrace channel. This year, diving operations began on May 1st, 2024.
Before diving, the concrete surface was hydrodemolished by a robot. After that, our divers install the reinforcement and formwork elements. The concrete casting is done using pressure casting via pre-installed casting ports. The total repair area for this year will be approximately 600 m². All diving operations are carried out while the power plant remains operational. Our divers work within a flow protection system.
Working with Unwa Oy on-site has been absolutely seamless. All tasks are planned and executed in a spirit of genuine cooperation. The work is carried out safely and to a high standard, and working hours are used efficiently. Their strong work ethic truly shows in everything they do!
